Transmission Encryption
PHI is always encrypted as it is transmitted over the Internet. All pages are protected by SSL and are not accessible insecurely. Data transmission is encrypted utilizing 256 bit encryption.
Backup
PHI is backed up and can be recovered. All protected information stored or collected by Therapractic web sites is backed up and encrypted and can be recovered in case of an emergency or accidental deletion.
Authorization
The Therapractic system is only accessible by authorized personnel using unique access controls. Therapractic web sites enforce unique, secure logins which ensure that only authorized people can access that data.
Integrity
Therapractic web sites use SSL to protect PHI from being tampered with or altered.
Storage Encryption
There is no file-stored PHI in the Therapractic system. PHI is stored in a Microsoft SQL Server database on a separate server that is protected from unauthorized access. The credentials to access the database are not stored within the Therapractic system. Data within the database is encrypted at rest utilizing 256 bit encryption.
Disposal
Data in the Therapractic system can be permanently disposed of when needed. When necessary, media is overwritten using processes specifically designed to destroy the data.
Business Associate
Therapractic has Business Associate agreements with the developers and maintenance personnel that can access the Therapractic system.
